About
Thirty years in tech taught me one thing: ship the thing that helps.
I've spent three decades building technology — enterprise systems, startups, the unglamorous plumbing that keeps organizations running. Somewhere along the way I stopped being impressed by what software could do and started caring about what it actually did for the people on the other end of it.
That's why I founded the Good Samaritan Institute (GoodSam.ai), a nonprofit applying AI where it matters most — community services, environmental stewardship, education — and Good Combinator, an accelerator for mission-driven AI founders who want their AI to do good — and to prove it. Fast, ethical, auditable isn't a slogan; it's the bar every project has to clear.
I took the same conviction into public service and was elected Special District Commissioner in South Walton County, Florida in 2020 — one of the few elected officials in the state actively deploying AI in public governance. Local government is where AI's promises meet potholes, stormwater, and public records law — and where getting it right earns real trust. I work on the boring-but-critical stuff: transparent workflows, auditable decisions, infrastructure that outlasts election cycles.
Home base is Point Preserve, a beachfront AI innovation campus on 30A in Santa Rosa Beach. It's part retreat, part lab, part proof that serious work and salt air are compatible. Builders, researchers, and public servants come through for residencies and "Escape to Create" sessions — and leave with working prototypes, not just whiteboards.
When I'm not consulting or in commission meetings, I'm hosting AI for Good: Transforming Communities, a podcast about people using AI to make their corner of the world measurably better.
